- CarBuzz reported that BMW had filed an application for the “iM3” trademark with Germany’s patent and trademark office.
- The name could signal a simple “i” prefix for electrified models and suggest the M3 as the first electric M model, although M-like electric versions of other BMW models are already available.
- The new performance EV is expected to deliver up to 700 horsepower through a four-motor electric drivetrain, while a wagon version could appear in other countries.
- BMW has effectively promised more electrified performance vehicles, but it remains unclear how the brand will handle the eventual end of gas-powered cars and the shift to its “Neue Klasse” design language in the next few years.
