- After 15 completed matches, Werder Bremen is 10th with 17 points and has a five-point cushion over the relegation playoff place.
- Peter Niemeyer points to late arrivals, limited time to prepare together and significantly more injuries than in previous years as factors behind the uneven first half.
- Werder has scored 18 goals, including eight in the first three matchdays, while Keke Topp and Victor Boniface remain without league goals and Boniface may need knee surgery.
- At the start of the new year, Werder is scheduled to face TSG Hoffenheim, Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer 04 Leverkusen, while Maximilian Wöber and, during January, Felix Agu are expected back after lengthy injury absences.
We are not satisfied with what we have achieved so far.— Peter Niemeyer, head of professional football at SV Werder Bremen, in an interview with DeichStube
