88-Year-Old Cashier Raises Over One Million DollarsA GoFundMe campaign raised $1.18 million in under 36 hours for Ed Bambas, a retired veteran still working daily at a supermarket.
- Ed Bambas, aged 88, continues to work up to eight and a half hours daily at a supermarket due to losing his pension in 2012.
- After bankruptcy, the retired General Motors employee lost his pension, health insurance, and most of his life insurance savings.
- An Australian influencer recorded Ed’s story and initiated a fundraiser quickly supported by numerous donors, including public figures.
- The collected donations now allow the veteran to live the life he had hoped for after enduring long-term financial hardship.
(My wife) passed away seven years ago. She was sick when I lost my pension.— Ed Bambas shares tearfully about his fate and the loss of his wife and pension.
