Key FactsBrowns Cut Veteran Receiver Diontae Johnson

Diontae Johnson, a seven-year Pro Bowler, was released by the Browns on roster cutdown day.

He signed a one-year veteran minimum contract in April to attempt a career comeback.

Despite strong route running, Johnson’s inconsistent catching and missed offseason sessions hindered his progress.

The Browns’ addition of rookie Isaiah Bond reduced Johnson’s chances of making the active roster.

One bad year. It’s one year. I had five great seasons in Pittsburgh. I had one year that don’t define me as a player, none of that. My character or none of that. Everybody is going to say what they want to say about me, but I know who I am as a person deep down and that’s all that matters to me.
— Diontae Johnson said during his podium interview in mandatory minicamp in June.

Diontae Johnson has been suspended for one game after refusing to take the field against the Eagles.

Ravens management stated the decision was due to conduct detrimental to the team.

Since joining Baltimore, Johnson has caught only one pass for 6 yards and will miss the upcoming game against the Giants.

His frustration with limited playing time raises concerns about his future with the team, particularly as a reserve receiver.
