Schemmern, Burghofen, Harmuthsachsen and Bischhausen are fully connected; construction began in Schemmern in 2024 after Goetel reportedly ended its relationship with its previous general contractor.

Work on household connections in the city center was halted, according to Mayor Niklas Gries, while Goetel completed the rollout in Wehrfeld.

Goetel had pledged coverage for Friemen, Mäckelsdorf, Hetzerode, Gehau, Eltmannsee, Stolzhausen, Rechtebach, Kirchhosbach, Rodebach and Hasselbach, but no rollout followed; the administration does not know why and suspects insufficient economic viability.

Some users’ connections still do not function properly, Gries says, and there is currently no information on further expansion; the city plans to contact Goetel and other providers again.

However, we will once again try to contact all firms involved in the fiber-optic construction – particularly Goetel – in order to initiate a market-driven expansion
— Said by Mayor Niklas Gries (CDU); he vows to reach out to the fiber-build companies to push a market-driven expansion
