- Microsoft Vice President Scott Hanselman released gputaskman; he is also a Member of Technical Staff.
- The app provides detailed GPU-use readings for individual models and processes, rather than only an overall figure.
- It shows whether LLMs, browsers, desktop compositors, or renderers are using GPU memory.
- GitHub offers a portable download of the app that requires no installation.
“Task Manager says ‘15 GB used.’ This tries to answer: by what? Model weights? KV cache? Your browser? The desktop compositor? And why is so much GPU memory in system RAM?”— Scott Hanselman, Microsoft engineer and creator of gputaskman, describing the questions the app aims to answer about GPU memory usage.

- On the HP OmniBook Ultra 16, Cyberpunk 2077 and Forza Horizon ran through Microsoft’s Prism emulator.
- The RTX 4080 was detected in the Plugable Thunderbolt 5 enclosure, but a missing device ID in Nvidia’s driver led to Microsoft’s Basic Display Adapter.
- PyPI lacked Windows-on-Arm packages for torch, OpenCV, CTranslate2, sqlite-vec and cryptography; Arm versions were available for Linux and macOS.
- Prism translates only user-mode code, so x86 kernel drivers require native Arm64 versions.

- According to an updated blog post by Windows and Devices VP Pavan Davuluri, Microsoft will delay the controversial Recall feature once more before making it available as a preview for PCs in the Windows Insider Program.
- Copilot+ PCs require a minimum of 16GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a neural processing unit (NPU) capable of at least 40 trillion operations per second (TOPS).
- The Recall preview for Windows Insiders will still necessitate a PC meeting the Copilot+ criteria, with the possibility of third-party scripts enabling Recall on hardware that falls short.
- Further details on Recall will emerge upon its return. Recall's functionality involves capturing PC screenshots periodically, saving them, and converting them into a searchable text database through OCR.
