According to Deadline, Kit Harington is joining the planned HBO series as Gilderoy Lockhart and replacing Nicholas Hoult.

Lockhart teaches Defense Against the Dark Arts during the characters’ second school year.

Harington had already played the same role in the audiobook adaptation Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions, released earlier this year.

Nicholas Hoult had been announced as Lockhart less than two weeks earlier and is now no longer involved; Deadline cited scheduling issues.

Frost’s Hagrid is to be from Bristol and kind, but somewhat quiet.

Frost cited his uncle Emy and Michael Clarke Duncan’s large, violent, childlike character in The Green Mile as inspirations.

Frost said some viewers may reject his version as not their Hagrid, adding that he was comfortable with that.

The HBO series is set to launch on Christmas Day and is expected to run for a decade.
