- After GeForce Game Ready 616.56, the author's Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 showed artefacts; the game returned to the desktop.
- Community reports cited GTX 16 and RTX 30, 40, and 50 series; 8-bit output seemed most affected, but Nvidia did not confirm the color-depth explanation.
- Nvidia released hotfix 616.86 on September 5 and WHQL 616.92 on September 9, but neither resolved the flickering.
- As his personal workaround, the author set OverlayTestMode to DWORD 5 under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Dwm; restarting stopped the flickering.

Key FactsUser report: Windows 11 removes GPU drivers in eco mode

- Ok-Horse-3169 reported on the Zephyrus G14 subreddit that Windows 11 removed the GPU drivers from a ROG Zephyrus G14 after 15 days in eco mode.
- The mode reportedly disconnects the discrete GPU from the PCIe bus, allowing the pnpclean.dll maintenance process to treat it as missing after a timeout; the default is 30 days, while the reported device had a 15-day setting.
- After switching to the standard power mode, the GPU was reportedly listed as a Basic Display Adapter, and Nvidia Control Panel did not recognize it.
- As possible remedies, the user recommends periodically using a non-eco power plan or disabling driver cleanup through the Autorun registry value under Device Driver Packages.
