HDMI 2.2 doubles bandwidth to 96 Gbps using the certified Ultra96 cables to ensure consistent performance.

It supports up to 16K resolution at 60 Hz and uncompressed 4K at 240 Hz with 12-bit color depth.

The standard maintains backwards compatibility, allowing new cables to work with older HDMI ports at lower speeds.

Devices implementing HDMI 2.2 are expected to appear in the market by the end of 2024, with AMD likely leading adoption.
