Few titles are as beloved and iconic as Gremlins, and we’re beyond excited to bring it back for both lifelong fans and a whole new generation. It’s a privilege to be working alongside Steven [Spielberg], Chris [Columbus], and the entire creative team, and we look forward to audiences experiencing the next installment of the magic, mayhem and heart of Gremlins on the big screen in 2027.

— Jesse Ehrman of Warner Bros. Pictures stated at the time of the movie's announcement.

"He started out when there was barely a film industry in this country to speak of. For more than fifty years he took New Zealand stories to the world and his talents helped make our film industry into what it is today – one of our greatest cultural exports," Luxon said. "His work will be watched and loved long after all of us. Our thoughts are with his family and friends tonight. Rest in Peace."— Christopher Luxon, Prime Minister of New Zealand, said this in tribute to Sam Neill; he highlighted Neill's role in bringing New Zealand stories to the world and shaping the national film industry.
