Mayor raises Gerstungen’s possible move to HesseOn September 15, the main committee will decide whether the municipal council should consider the proposal.
- Mayor Daniel Steffan raised a possible move to Hesse; the main committee will discuss it on September 15.
- Steffan cites deteriorating roads, disadvantages for the Bebra-Erfurt rail line, staffing shortages and canceled classes.
- According to a municipal statement, more families are increasingly sending their children to schools in Hesse.
- A state switch requires interstate treaties or federal legislation approved by the Bundesrat; the municipality cannot decide alone.
Thuringia must make more effort to support us and help our large municipality, which the state parliament wanted, instead of blocking us.— Mayor Daniel Steffan (CDU), in the context of Gerstungen's potential move to Hessen.
