- Alexander Zverev advanced to the third round in Rome by overcoming Daniel Altmaier in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3.
- The match faced a one-hour rain delay and cold temperatures, which challenged Zverev physically throughout the contest.

- With Carlos Alcaraz withdrawing, Zverev is now seeded second and may face Jannik Sinner only in the final.
