Shohei Ohtani stands alone with the most Major League home runs ever by a Japanese-born player!
Quick Glance: Shohei Ohtani Sets New Record for Most MLB Homers
  • Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Shohei Ohtani has broken the record for the most homers hit by a Japanese-born player in Major League Baseball.

  • During a game at Dodger Stadium, Ohtani hit an impressive homer that flew into the right field bleachers off pitcher Adrian Houser of the New York Mets.

  • With this homer, which was Ohtani's 176th in his six years in the MLB, he surpassed Matsui, who played the final 10 years of his 20-year pro career in North America.

  • Ohtani's record-breaking blast traveled 423 feet and put the Dodgers ahead 2-0. Prior to this, Ohtani had not hit a homer in seven consecutive games.
