- Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Shohei Ohtani has broken the record for the most homers hit by a Japanese-born player in Major League Baseball.
- During a game at Dodger Stadium, Ohtani hit an impressive homer that flew into the right field bleachers off pitcher Adrian Houser of the New York Mets.
- With this homer, which was Ohtani's 176th in his six years in the MLB, he surpassed Matsui, who played the final 10 years of his 20-year pro career in North America.
- Ohtani's record-breaking blast traveled 423 feet and put the Dodgers ahead 2-0. Prior to this, Ohtani had not hit a homer in seven consecutive games.
