- The decision was made during a meeting led by President Jacob Zuma on June 2, 2025.
- Shivambu was reassigned to the National Assembly to strengthen the party’s parliamentary caucus.
It was reaffirmed that the trip was not an officially sanctioned programme of the organisation or the president, which therefore goes against the constitution of the party.— Nathi Nhleko, the party's national organiser, during a press briefing in Durban.
