Children killed, tortured in Myanmar junta’s crackdown, U.N. expert says
Quick Glance: The Myanmar military is brutalizing youngsters and producing a "lost generation," according to the United Nations.
  • Myanmar's military has killed and tortured children since seizing power in February 2021, according to a report by United Nations researchers.

  • "The relentless attacks on children underscore the depths of the military junta's depravity and its willingness to inflict immense misery and hardship on innocent victims," according to the report.

  • "For the sake of Myanmar's children, member states, regional organizations, the Security Council, and other U.N. entities must respond to the crisis in Myanmar with the same urgency they have responded to the crisis in Ukraine," Andrews said in a statement.

  • 7.8 million children are also not attending school.
