Quick Glance: The magnetic field of an Earth-like planet could be revealed by radio waves from a nearby star system.
- An exoplanet 12 light-years from Earth may have a magnetic field that interacts with a red dwarf star.
- In late 2019 and early 2020, two researchers observed repeated radio waves emanating from a star named YZ Ceti using the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array in New Mexico.
- The magnetic field protects us.
- "If the planet has a magnetic field and it plows through enough star stuff, it will cause the star to emit bright radio waves."

Quick Glance: Northern Lights UK: A stunning image captured at Roundhay Park shows the Aurora Borealis over the skies of Leeds.
- A photographer captured an incredible image of the Northern Lights over a park in Leeds.
- The "lights occur as a consequence of solar activity and result from collisions of charged particles in the solar wind colliding with molecules in the Earth's upper atmosphere" according to the Met Office.
- The Northern Lights are caused by solar activity that has an 11-year cycle.
- There is also a solar maximum, which occurs in the middle of the cycle and is characterized by increased activity, increasing the likelihood of seeing more frequent geomagnetic storms and strong Northern Lights at lower latitudes.
