- A fintech startup called Midas has successfully raised $45 million in a funding round led by Portage Ventures of Canada. This enables investors in Turkey to invest in US and Turkish equities.
- With over 2 million users in Turkey's retail market, Midas offers lower transaction and commission fees for Turkish customers. Additionally, the company provides financial content, real-time stock market data and news, as well as company profiles to educate the market.
- The new funding is intended to introduce three new products: cryptocurrency trading, mutual funds, and savings accounts. Midas plans to expand beyond Turkey and target countries in the MENA region.
- Other participants in the round included International Finance Corporation, Spark Capital, Earlybird Digital East Fund, and Revo Capital. Previously, Midas had already completed a $11 million seed round in 2022 and aims to strengthen its presence in the Turkish financial sector.
