- NEW DELHI, 10 JULY (Reuters) - Following a violent day of protests, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) expressed hope for a resolution to Sri Lanka's political instability, allowing the reopening of talks for a rescue package.
- According to an official, Sri Lanka's President Gotabaya Rajapaksa would resign on Wednesday after hundreds of protestors invaded his official residence and office on Saturday.
- Protesters also set fire to the private mansion of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
- "We hope for a resolution of the current situation that will allow for resumption of our dialogue on an IMF-supported program," the IMF said in a statement.
