Quick Glance: Sinn Féin achieves historic victory, but DUP wants protocol modification for power
- Mr Donaldson was chosen as DUP leader in Lagan Valley, while Alliance leader Naomi Long was voted as Alliance leader in East Belfast on a successful day for her party, which boosted its share of first preference votes by more than 4 percentage points to 13.5 percent to become the third largest party.
- Sinn Féin received 250,388 first-preference votes, while the DUP received 184,002 and the Alliance Party received 116,681 votes.
- "Until we get that progress, I made it clear I will not be nominating ministers to the Executive," DUP leader Jeffrey Donaldson said.
