- According to Colonel Steven McCraw, director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, at least two youngsters dialed 911 from connecting fourth-grade classrooms after 18-year-old Salvador Ramos entered with an AR-15 semi-automatic weapon.
- According to the colonel, someone who McCraw did not identify called police at 12.16pm and indicated there were still "eight to nine" students alive.
- According to McCraw, police collected 142 expended shots from Ramos' weapon inside the school, as well as roughly two dozen more on school property outside the building.
